The political drama surrounding the impeachment of the former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has taken a new turn as Senator Anthony Adefuye, a key member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), has voiced his support for Obasa’s claim that his removal was unconstitutional.

A Nigerian civil and political rights activist, Dr. Wale Ajewunmi, has warned former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, to abstain from making comments and actions that can cause unrest in the State.

Former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and Minister, Olorunnibe Mamora, has affirmed the constitutionality of the removal of Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

It is imperative to clarify that over 2/3 of the members of the Lagos State House of Assembly are solidly united behind the new Speaker, Rt Hon Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, therefore we stood by the decision taken on the 13th of January where Rt Hon Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa was impeached and we shall defend our positions to the latter. As elected representative of the people of Lagos, we owe them good governance and harmonious relationship with other arms of government.

Tension continues to rise in the Lagos State political arena as the impeached Speaker of the House of Assembly, Honourable Mudashiru Obasa, insists that his removal was invalid. Obasa, who returned to Lagos on Saturday after a foreign trip, has declared that the impeachment carried out by the Assembly using what he described as a “fake” mace cannot stand.

There's always been something about Mudashiru Obasa that typifies crass stupidity.

A Federal High Court, Lagos, has fixed February 27, for the arraignment of one of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Gbolahan and four others over alleged conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence and N1, 356, 057, 330. 43 billion fraud.

Lagos State is on edge as the embattled former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, has returned to the state today, Saturday, January 25, 2025, after being ousted from office earlier this month. His return has sparked widespread concern, with many calling for immediate police intervention.
