One Nigerian who has every reason to yearly celebrate his birthday is the veteran Nollywood actor, presenter, singer, director, producer, voice over artist and filmmaker, Segun Arinze.
Arinze is celebrating his 56th birthday anniversary today, Friday, September 24, 2021 to the glory of God. The quintessential and multi-talented actor and former President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) was born on September 24, 1965.
Segun Arinze who is currently the President of the Association of Voice Over Artistes of Nigeria is known to be a true family man, a caring husband and father just as he represents so many remarkable things to numerous people especially his fans, mentees, colleagues, family members, business associates and partners.
This astute movie legend was first known globally for his portrayal of the role of ‘Black Arrow’ in that action movie of the nineties by Chico Ejiro, titled Silent Night, Segun, who is simply referred to as Segun Arinze, became noted as a singer with an irresistible voice, whose hit track from his debut album as a singer, Nwanyi Ganga, was on repeat on radio.
With more than 20 years acting experience under his belt, Segun Arinze has made his mark in the Nigeria’s movie industry. He is also considered one of the top Nigerian Nollywood actors and has subsequently starred in over 300 Nollywood films and facilitated many industry-related seminars, workshops, training and education.
In 2020, Arinze was among those that were appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari through the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed to a committee of the creative industry stakeholders to look into and advise the Federal Government on the best way to mitigate the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on the industry.
The ace actor made significant contributions at the committee level by offering ingenious ideas that could be useful for a collective and government-supported approach in dealing with the immediate, short and long term palliatives and initiatives for the industry, in order to lighten the effect of the pandemic on the industry.
