COVID-19: Strict compliance as students sit for WASSCE in Ondo

17 August, 2020

As the West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, begins, Ondo State students joined their counterparts across the country to sit for the unified examination.

With the COVID-19 pandemic still in the air, all the schools visited by DAILY POST were observed to have complied fully with the approved guidelines.

The Federal Government had on August 4, 2020, given a directive that exit classes for secondary schools in the country should resume, to prepare for the examination.

Schools monitored within Akure, the Ondo State capital include Adegbola Memorial Secondary School, St Louis Secondary School, Fiwasaye Grammar School and CAC Grammar School.

At the gates of the schools, buckets of water, alcohol-based sanitizer as well as soap was provided for the students to wash their hands before entering the school.

Also, infrared thermometers were stationed at the gate of the schools with the temperature of students taken before being allowed into the premises.

With social distance optimally maintained in the examination hall, each student had on a facemask and a personal hand sanitizer before they were allowed into the school.

According to the Principal, St. Louis Secondary School, Mrs. Omobolanle Ayintete, “Here at St. Louis we are fully in compliance with the COVID-19 instructions. Per class, we have just about 20 students and they are well spaced. Usually, a class contains 50 to 55 students.

“All the students are with their face mask and we have been able to provide water, sanitizer and soap in strategic areas in the school,” she said.
