Court orders AGF Malami to release suspected notorious criminal, Edem to Ghana

The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami has been ordered by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to surrender a suspected notorious criminal, Asuquo Mbuotidem Edem to the Ghanaian Government for prosecution.

Boko Haram operating checkpoints – UN reacts to execution of aid workers

The United Nations (UN) has expressed sadness over the execution of aid workers by Boko Haram. Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Edward Kallon, in a statement, said he was utterly shocked and horrified by the gruesome killing. Kallon commiserated with their families, friends and others. He decried the number of illegal vehicular checkpoints set up by terrorists along main supply routes. The UN described the workers as committed humanitarians who devoted their lives to helping vulnerable people and communities ravaged by violence. The official stressed that safety has been UN highest priority. Kallon strongly condemned all violence targeting aid workers and the civilians they are assisting. 1. Eyitayo Jegede has emerged winner of the governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which held on Wednesday in Akure, the Ondo State capital. Out of the 2111 delegates who voted during the primaries, Jegede who was the standard-bearer of the party in 2016 polled 888 votes to emerge the winner while his closest rival, the embattled Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi scored 667. Eddy Olafeso came third in the contest with 175 votes while Bode Ayorinde polled 95 votes with Banji Okunomo scoring 90. Boluwaji Kunlere polled 33 votes and Godday Erewa, 14 votes.
