Ex-Speaker Obasa's Rival, Hon Temitope Adewale Faces Allegations of ₦286 Million Contract Scandal

02 February, 2025

In a shocking revelation, an investigation by SecretReporters has brought to light a potential scandal involving Hon. Temitope Adedeji Adewale, popularly known as JAH, a prominent Lagos lawmaker who previously spearheaded efforts to unseat the embattled ex-Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, now finds himself embroiled in a scandal involving the alleged diversion of a state contract valued at over ₦286 million.

The contract, awarded for the provision of lane markings across Lagos State, has raised eyebrows as investigations reveal potential conflicts of interest linked to Adewale's ownership of the contracting company, Titans and Tulip Resources Limited. This revelation casts a shadow over his political integrity and raises questions about the transparency of the state's procurement processes.

The procurement for this contract took place in 2022 and remains active as of the latest reports. The project was awarded to Titans and Tulip Resources Limited, a company based in Surulere, Lagos, and registered under number 1154613 since November 20, 2013. However, questions have arisen about the company’s current operational status, which raises concerns about its eligibility for government contracts and possible tax evasion.

The controversy surrounding Adewale comes at a critical time, as he continues to serve as a member of the House of Representatives for Ifako Ijaiye I Constituency. Critics argue that his dual role as a lawmaker and business owner presents a significant ethical dilemma, particularly given the substantial amount of public funds involved.

Born on May 3, 1983, in Lagos, Adewale is currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives for Ifako Ijaiye I Constituency, having been part of both the 9th and now the 10th Legislative Assemblies. He holds a B.Sc. in Estate Management from the University of Lagos and completed a Master in Facility Management in 2016.

Before entering politics, he was the Managing Director and CEO of Titans and Tulip Resources Ltd since 2012. He also held several significant positions as a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on various matters, including Work Infrastructure and Transportation.

Critics are questioning whether Adewale established Titans and Tulip Resources Limited with the intent to exploit government contracts, particularly given his previous roles in public office. This situation raises alarming concerns about the integrity of the contract awarding process in Lagos State.

According to Section 6(b) of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, public officers are prohibited from engaging in private business management unless they are not employed full-time.

As calls for accountability grow louder, the implications of this scandal could not only impact Adewale's political future but also shake public confidence in the governance and oversight of state contracts in Lagos.
