Shame! How How Tunde Ayeni Crashed Westown Hotel Boss, Ayo Ayeni's Marriage

14 January, 2021
The evil that men do lives after them.  This aphorism graphically captures the mindset of Ayo Ayeni, the owner of Westown Hotel, Ikeja, towards the former chairman of now defunct Skye Bank, Tunde Ayeni (they are not related).

Counselled never to rejoice in the misfortune of others, Ayo does not appear to be in the mood to allow such sermon sink in.

Seething from the pain of his matrimonial collapse, which was caused by Tunde who was caught in a compromising position with Jumoke, Ayo’s wife, some years back, he has been basking in the dysphoria that has become the lot of Tunde.

It was once matrimonial ecstasy between Ayo and Jumoke. They were every inch the model couple. The journey was smooth and near-perfect between the couple until Jumoke’s misadventure with Tunde.

The unfortunate incident sent Ayo into his gloomiest season ever as he could no longer stand the sight of his compromised better half. He had to eventually part ways with her before he could find peace again. People in the know relayed how Ayo almost slid into depression and how he always seized every moment to curse Tunde for causing him psycho-emotional pains.

Ayo has reportedly told his friends that Tunde’s misfortunes are just beginning as he predicted that worse calamities await him.

Whether the curses are potent or not, what is glaring is that the last four years have, indeed, been Tunde’s most trying period since he broke into the league of extra-ordinarily rich Nigerians.

His fortune has taken a plunge and he has continued to be dragged from one court to another in a bid to get him to cough out the N25bn he took from Skye Bank Plc, an act which was majorly instrumental to the collapse of the once buoyant bank. He has also been in and out of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) cell.

The anti-corruption agency filed 10 charges against him, one of which was that he withdrew N25billion from the Suspense Account of the bank and misappropriated it. Ayeni is, at present, battling to extricate himself from all the legal entanglements that come with such financial crimes.
