18 July, 2021

Despite all oppositions to her attainment as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of GTBank,  the plum financial services provider Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) has, against all odds,  announced the appointment of Miriam Olusanya as Managing Director.

On record, Miriam Olusanya becomes the first female Managing Director in the bank’s history, succeeding Mr. Segun Agbaje. She has a solid pedigree when it comes to astute banking and management of human resources; and has increasingly over the years been a role model to the younger female folks in the industry, who look up to her as an example.

Ms. Miriam Olusanya now joins the exclusive and elite league of female bankers who are making waves as MDs/CEOs, directors and decision-makers of their various banks nay Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe of Fidelity Bank, Tomi Somefun of Unity Bank, Adaora Umeoji of Zenith Bank, Aisha Ahmad of CBN, Bola Adesola of Standard Chartered Bank, Chioma Okolie of Access Bank, Aruma Oteh of Ecobank and many more, too numerous to mention, all of whom are ably-led at the pinnacle of the finance industry by the Honourable Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed.

Miriam Olusanya, until her appointment was an Executive Director at the bank. She has over 20 years of banking experience across various units, including Transaction Services, Asset and Liability Management, Financial Markets, Corporate Finance and Investor Relations. She joined GTbank as an Executive Trainee and rose to the position of a General Manager until she was appointed Executive Director.
