DAILY POST had reported that Barcelona are plotting to offload several senior players including Luiz Suarez, Ivan Rakitic and Jordi Alba this summer.
The La Liga giants made the decision following their humiliating Champions League 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich last Friday.
According to Cadena Ser, Barcelona will impose a salary cut on any senior player who refused to exit the club this summer.
The newspaper reports that incoming manager, Ronald Koeman and sporting director Eric Abidal have been placed in charge of “cleaning up” the first-team squad ahead of next season.
Barcelona aims to reduce players’ wages because of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on their finances this term.
The Catalan club ended the 2019/20 without winning any trophy.
