DAILY POST earlier reported that Stoke City announced the signing of Mikel on Monday.
Mikel, 33, is Stoke City’s fourth signing of the summer ahead of the 2020/21 Championship season.
Reacting, Mikel told the club’s official Twitter account that he was looking forward to working with his new teammates.
Mikel said: “When you come into a football club, players can look you to you and say I want to listen to this player.
“So that comes down to me what advice I would give to the players during games, training, outside the pitch and how can I help them during difficult times, I am really looking forward to that.
“I can bring that experience and winning mentality to the team because there is always a way to win a game, and we need to find that way.
“The winning mentality needs to come into the team week in, and week out, that is what I did during my time at Chelsea. So, If I can bring that experience and winning mentality here, then I will be happy.”
Mikel made over 370 appearances for Chelsea, helping the Blues to win the Premier League title twice, as well as three FA Cups, the Champions League and Europa League during his time at Stamford Bridge.
