The epoch making event has the creme la creme in the society in attendance was held on Thursday.
In the welcome address of the AWAMN President, Mr.David Oluwasegun Oriyomi, enunciated the importance of waste management and also reiterated the needs for synergies among government agencies in order to sustain hygienic environment.
Speaking during the event, Otunba Almaroof Oloyede represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Comrade Gbenga Soloki, appreciated the agency for making Oshodi-Isolo local government a choice of their national heaquarters saying this initiative of situationg the AWAMN national secretariat within the council jurisdictions is a thing of joy.
He assured members of the association of continued suport in order to achieve the cleaner Lagos initiative agenda.
He said; "it is important to note that the role of these set of Nigerians in a cosmopolitan city like Lagos can not be over emphasized. They have remain partners in the development of our dear state in the clearance and discharge of waste generated all year round.
Let me state also that as partners in the development of our dear state and local government since my assumption of office as the Executive Chairman, I have been consistent in supporting members of this association in the discharge of their duties to the people of Oshodi isolo at ennsuring cleaner Lagos initiative is achieved.
The erection of the National Secretariat of the Association in Oshodi is a commendable effort. Let me assure the Association of our administration's continued support not only for this project but at all time.
In a way of supproting this sector, the council has purchased a waste loading truck for the use of waste collectors as a way of ensuring cleaner environment in our local government and the state at large."
Former Oshodi-Isolo local government Chairman Hon.Afeez Ipesa Balogun, commended the management of AWAMN for their wonderful job in Lagos and prayed for successful completion of the national secretariat as it was inaugurated.
The national secretariat of the is located on Oyetayo street, Oshodi. According to the association the building when completed, will generate jobs to the peoople of the community and Lagos state at large.
Present at the foundation laying ceremony included representative of Lagos state commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources,represented by the permanent secretary, former chairman of OSHODI isolo Hon. Afeez Ipesa Balogun, Managing Director Of LAWMA, members of the community development committee among others.
