As the convener of a women's advocacy and empowerment NGO, she has dedicated herself to ensuring that women's voices are not only heard but included in important decision-making processes. For the past 15 years, she has been at the forefront of this fight, rallying top women to advocate for gender equality and greater representation in Nigeria.
And her efforts have not been in vain. Dr. Siju, a trained lawyer, is thrilled with the recent recognition given to women in governance at both the federal and state levels. As the 15th edition of the Arise Women conference approaches in October, she plans to capitalize on this momentum and push for even more progress. The theme of the event, "#StepUp," reflects the organization's commitment to empowering women to embrace leadership roles and make their mark on society.
Dr. Siju's impact goes beyond just advocacy. Throughout her 30-year career, she has spearheaded various initiatives aimed at empowering women and promoting their rightful position in national development. From the Handmaidens (Women in Leadership) program to the Arise Women platform, she has provided avenues for women to thrive and excel in their chosen fields.
While she acknowledges that there is more work to be done, Dr. Siju is pleased with the progress that has been made so far. The recent increase in the number of women appointed to the Federal Executive Council is a testament to the power of raising one's voice and speaking out against gender inequality. She believes that if women had remained silent, these positive changes would not have been possible.
The upcoming Arise Women Conference, starting on October 14, promises to be a dynamic and impactful event. It kicks off with the Arise Walk For Life, a nationwide walk aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle among women. This will be followed by the Arise Golf Tournament on October 20 and the Arise Football Academy match on October 21.
The grand finale of the conference will take place on October 28 at the Trinity Towers, City of David in Victoria Island, Lagos, along with four other event centers. With a gathering of influential women from various sectors, this event will undoubtedly be a catalyst for meaningful change and further empowerment.
Dr. Siju Iluyomade continues to inspire and lead the charge for gender equality in Nigeria. Her unwavering commitment to empowering women and giving them a voice is making a significant impact, and the Arise Women Conference is just one of the many ways she is creating positive change.
